Happy Easter and an Egging Around Knitalong Update

five handknit eggs

Easter has long been my favorite holiday and I am glad to share a moment of mine with you.

I walked the orchard with the dogs this morning as the sun was peeking over the trees. The light was that perfect spring morning gold, so uplifting to my heart. The birds were singing (still are, through my open window) and the puppy was successful in initiating a game of chase with the older dogs.

I feel so fortunate to have trained myself to look for these small moments of joy. They are sustaining, especially in current times when life seems particularly unpredictable.

Last Day of the Egging Around KAL

Today is the last day of the Egging Around KAL. It was such fun, and I heard from many knitalong participants that they thought so, too.

I didn’t finish as many eggs as I’d hoped, and my hands are bothering me this morning so I won’t be knitting on tiny needles today. Fortunately, my “girls” have been busy laying eggs, so I borrowed some for my Easter centerpiece. Five knitted eggs in 2 1/2 weeks isn’t bad, all in all.

My very favorite part of the KAL were the Zoom Knit and Chat sessions.  It was just lovely to connect and learn more about what makes the pattern appealing for you.  And I always appreciate when knitters ask questions about the pattern, because it helps me make the next one better!

One of the KAL participants shared that this was her first stranded colorwork- and she went on to knit six (!!) eggs!  Talk about forming some muscle memory…

Several knitters made plain eggs and shared their modifications. That’s  wonderful thing about knitalongs, don’t you agree?  I made a couple plain eggs, myself, dropping down a needle size.  There were several requests and suggestions for more egg patterns, so be on the lookout for those next spring.

Huge thanks to our Egging Around KAL prize sponsors, Marianated Yarns and Yarnaceous Fibers, for their support and generosity.  If you are able, I encourage you to support them.
